Naming our Wee Check ~ An homage to the Glasgow Vernacular
Wee Check~Combining a sense of geometric organisation with asymmetrical whimsy in tribute to the natural humour of the people of Glasgow.
Inspired by the whimsical feel of our Wee Check design we wanted the range to have a sense of humour and a very Scottish personality. The colour names are a big part of that. Words like Coorie, Gallus, Braw and Sonsie immediately bring a feeling and a character with them. They make the range feel warm, playful and connected to where it comes from and perfectly capture the wit and irreverence of Glasgow as a city and its people.
We carefully paired our favourite Scots words and names to each colourway, ensuring there was a harmony between the two. For example, Wee Check Coorie is a combination of rich terracotta and orange evoking a sense of cosiness and warmth with Coorie meaning to snuggle, nestle or huddle up for warmth and protection.
We really loved the naming process and love hearing our clients and friends reaction to then and the discussions, stories and questions that arise.
