The Old Manse of Blair, Stables Suite & Railway Cottage

TYPE: Hospitality
LOCATION: Blair Atholl, UK
COMPLETED: 2020

Cosy snugs within the newly renovated Stables Suite Schehallion and tranquil Railway Cottage steadings; an opportunity to flex our creative muscles and create entirely custom artworks for this breath-taking renovation.

A custom Glow design upon Superluxe Velvet cushions.

Yet another exquisite offering from the Old Manse of Blair, masterminded by the talented Anne MacDonald. We were delighted to be involved in the design process and took the opportunity to create not only custom artworks, but also custom product for this renovation utilising our treasured connections with local makers.

Highland Hack Upon Superluxe Velvet Cushions

Highland Hack Upon Superluxe Velvet Drapery

Highland Hack; an inky depiction of the original stables roots of the steadings through puddles of velvet drapery and plump throw cushions. Inspiration taken from leather stirrups and headstalls paired with the vibrancy of cobalt blue and playful accents of sunshine yellow.

During the design development, Anne proposed the addition of collaborating on custom headboards with an equestrian twist. The end result comprises of luxurious Scottish tweed from a local mill upholstered upon chestnut frames affixed with locally sourced leather strap detailing ~ we love!

Highland Hack Draperies

Where once the horses of the estate would be tacked to roam the surrounding Highland wilderness. A nostalgic glimpse to the past.

Axel upon Superluxe Velvet Cushions

Glow upon Superluxe Velvet Cushions

Within the Railway cottage the rooms are themed around the heritage of the Highland Railway Line and in particular the mystique of The Black Island Platform.. The rooms are decorated in a chic luxurious way and aptly named; The Signal Box & and The Ticket Office.

The duo of custom artworks, Glow and Axel were designed to portray the lanterns they would have used at night on the railway and the ironworks of the steam trains.
